M:Today , we are gonna talk about an tricky question in the job interviews, that is what are your weakness?What is your suggestion on the issue?Eric
E: In my opinion, this is not the time for you to show how bad you are at something.It is really an opportunity for you to show how you can identify opportunity to improve yourself and how you improve it .

M： Oh, that sounds reasonable,  so what are bad answers? Eric.
E: Such like,  I don’t think I have any weakness .I am pretty much good at everything.
M: That is all?
E： Oh , You know, the biggest weakness that I have is that I am really bad at balancing work and life. I work a long time, I can’t stop working .

M: Wow, this is kind of suicide answer, if I am a HR, I would say : next one ,come in ， so  tell us how to answer such questions properly，Eric
E: Sure, firstly , please read carefully the job description,try to mention anything that is directly related to the required skills, for example, if you are applying for a job that is related to date analysis, and you talk how bad you are at numbers,this is definitely not a good answer, No.2, you have to spend very little time on the things you want to improve. But spend more time on how you have been improving it or your future plan to improve it.

M: it sounds great，Eric, could you give us an example?
E: Yeah, one thing I think I can definitely improve is public speaking. I mean I can present in front of a client but I get super nervous when presenting in front of a large group of audience. And when I get nervous I tend to speak really fast, so definite something  I want to work on, I have a couple of friends who are very good public speaking and talking in front of a large group of people.So I have been talking with them and tr to steal their tricks. I am also taking an online course to train myself to be more confident and more comfortable at public speaking.I also try to record myself so that I can listen back to it and to identify problems to improve . In the future, I definitely want to get more opportunities to practice. I believe practice will make it better.

M：Fabulous answer, I got the point,  don’t get nervous when you are asked this question , don’t get brainwashed to get fixated on the weakness part. Look at this question as someone ask you how you want to improve yourself or tell me something that you want to improve . Am I right?
